There’s no doubt about it, end tables complete your living space. When you add lamp tables or side tables to your room it pulls everything together and offers functional surface area, too, for all your living room essentials.   

Did you know end tables are just as important as coffee tables and your living room seating? They also go so well with your reclining furniture. They hold things like drinks, books, tech devices and more. There are so many things to think about when picking out your perfect tables, and we know it can be overwhelming. So, if you have questions, we understand. Which is why we compiled a list of some of our frequently asked questions (and answers) here.   

Is there a rule for how big or how small an end table should be? Not so much rules, but guidelines or suggestions. For instance, keep the top of your table within 1­–2 inches of your sofa or seating. And you don’t want the depth of your table to be bigger than the depth of your sofa, so keep that in mind, too! 

Do my end tables need to match my coffee table? Not necessarily! If you want a traditional look then a set would be perfect for you. Mixing and matching is also a great way to add some interest to your space. If you have a marble or stone coffee table a wood or metal table would look great. 

So should I get matching end tables? Your call! A set works great, but you can also mix things up with two different styles! 

Is there a certain shape I should get? That one is all you! For the most part, square and round styles are the shapes you have to work with. However, they come in different weights and designs, so if you have a larger sofa you might want to go with open and airy end tables. Have lighter accent chairs you want a table to go in between? Think about a drum table or thicker storage table for a balanced look. 

Can I find practical end tables that are also pretty? You can! Like we said, there are storage end tables that can hold things like electronics, remotes and more. There are also nesting end tables that are both stylish and savvy—spread them out when guests are over and you need more surface area then stack them together when not in use (genius). We even have styles with built-in magazine racks for added convenience.  

And style features—what do you have? So many. Some with glass tops, others with a scrolled base, some with all-over mirrored details, styles with beautiful hardware—something you’re sure to love is ready and waiting for you here.    

What design styles can I pick from? Modern, urban farmhouse, glam, traditional and more. 

Are there different materials and colors when it comes to end tables? There sure are. Find side tables that are wood, metal, glass, stone and marble. And colors? We have brown, black, gray, white, gold, silver and even bold colors. 

Are there other tips or tricks I should keep in mind? Yes! One is to make sure there are a couple of inches between your end table and your seat, so when you set down your drink or book you have plenty of space. Another tip is that you can use two matching end tables together as a coffee table. You can even repurpose an end table as a nightstand. Yep, end tables are super multi-functional pieces (which is why we love them so much!). 

Any advice on how to style an end table? We say, keep it simple. A book or two, a candle, a plant or flowers and maybe a lamp (but only if you have plenty of space!). A floor lamp just behind a smaller end table is a great addition, too. The key is to not overcrowd it—it’s a table and you want to be able to use it!
